Part of the iconic Challenge Wānaka Festival of Triathlon, the Mitre 10 Mega Adaptive Challenge is a celebration of inclusion, achievement, and community spirit. This special event invites anyone aged 10 years and over with a physical or intellectual impairment to experience the thrill of triathlon — in a fun, safe, and fully supported environment.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Lake Wānaka, participants will swim, bike, and run along the same stunning course used by other Challenge Wānaka athletes. The swim takes place close to shore in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Wānaka, followed by a scenic bike ride along the lakefront and a run through to the official Challenge Wānaka finish line — complete with music, cheers, and that unforgettable red carpet moment.

Every athlete will be welcomed and supported by our incredible volunteers and crowd, ensuring that the Adaptive Challenge is a day filled with smiles, encouragement, and celebration. Thanks to the generous support of Mitre 10 Mega Wanaka, all participants will receive a finisher’s medal — a proud reminder of their effort and achievement.

Whether it’s your first triathlon or another step in your journey, the Mitre 10 Mega Adaptive Challenge embodies what the Challenge Wānaka Festival is all about — inclusivity, inspiration, and the joy of being part of something truly special
